First National Visa Credit Card - Lied to about payment agreement
3 comments
I contacted them, tried to make a half payment on July 27th, and said the rest would be received August 11th, the operator said I could not do that but I could make full payment on August 11th and it would put the account back to Good standing. Then August 2 turned me over to LLC collection agency, now said I could only make 3 payments. I think this is unfair after they agreed to it, I want this pulled out of collection let me make my past due payment like agreed upon, and continue with my regular payments at that point.
Reason of review: Problems with payment.

The reason most people apply for this card is to rebuild their credit history. If you qualify for this credit card, you are considered a high risk borrower.
As such and understandably so, the company is not going to be too lenient with you if you miss a payment. Credit card companies do not have any obligation to the consumer to help them repay the credit that is borrowed against the card and if you did not get the new payment plan in writing, you do not have an agreement. You, as a borrower, however, do have an obligation to the company. You agreed to pay at least your minimum payment on the due date.
If you don't do that, they have the right to report it to the credit agencies and move forward to collect the balance in any manner they choose.
While I can understand your disappointment, the bottom line is that if you are attempting to rebuild a good credit history as a high risk borrower, you don't have the luxury of missing a payment and it is wise to remember the reason you applied for the card in the first place. It isn't necessarily to give you buying freedom; it is to show that you can and do pay make your payments on time.
It would actually depend. Credit laws stipulate a bill has to be over 30 days late to start collections. It would depend on ho long it had been since she made a payment.
